raf the great: Jil Sander F2009 RTW

Soooo... Raf Simmons has pretty much revived fashion. I mean, it wasn't dead but it is just so ALIVE NOW! This show was AMAZING. It started off so minimalistic and then the looks BOOM went straight into modern. And the SHOES?! Insane. Insane Insane. I love the shapes, the minimal color palette with the pops of brights, the details in the linings... I could go on. Have a look for yourself. Here are my favorites.

karma

So I was going to post an outfit with my rockandrepublic skiiny jeans. But this morning at the laundrymat, while they were in the dryer and I was getting a coffee, they were stolen. Unfortunately the laundrymat isn't responsible and no one saw. I was really bummed. But I figure if someone wanted them bad enough to steal them out of a dryer? Then I guess they truly needed them. Plus, karma is a bitch :-)

So anyway, here is the outfit I wore to work yesterday. Not exactly groundbreaking, but I like my nine west boots and new bag from Lux.

So today's lesson kiddies, don't leave your clothes unattended at the laundrymat.

Boo.

Saw these at www.shoesick.com. They are for sale on etsy for only $65 but alas, not my size. Boooooohooohooo.

Love at first sight

Cesare Paciotti shoes. Will sell a kidney for these. Takers?

Stud DIY Part 1

My studding obsession is taking hold of me! So far I've done 2 jackets, 2 pairs of boots and 1 bracelet and now I am looking at everythinb and imagining how much better it would look with studs. Now if only Jumbo would stop calling it 'bedazzling'.

Here is the first pair of boots I did. I had to use superglue, since the studs would not penetrate the heel. Anyone have any advice on studs into leather? (my jacket is next)

twenty8twelve

Sienna and Savannah Miller presented the F09 Twenty8Twelve line at London FW. The looks are VERY rtw, not much in the innovative dept with the exception of this shoulder pad look.

DO you guys think this will catch on? I don't mind smaller shoulder pads in my blazers, but the whole thing feels a bit 'Dynasty'.

Studly

If my boyfriend proposed marriage with these shoes, I would say yes.

I am in deep lust with bessnyc.

Incidentally, while looking up studs, does anyone remember the dating show from the early nineties 'Studs'? I watched that religiously. I would die to see an episode now. It was like a cheesy, 90s grunge version of the dating game. Ah, youth.

First Appointment

Finished my first of many appointments with Chas to do my 3/4 sleeve. The design is traditional Japanese, and will be full color (when it's done :) I'll post again when we start on color in a few weeks. As much as it looks like I'm cool, there were a couple painful spots, but nothing tooooo bad. Elbow es no bueno. But all the same, super stoked on it so far.

so you've been where i just come from

I had a successful vintage shopping day. Found this leather jacket on the racks for a retardedly low price. I won't even say, you'll die. The glasses are ski-optics, and the boots are also vintage, from etsy.

It was nasty weather today, so the sun came out for literally 10 minutes and Jumbo and I were out snapping.

Tomorrow is tat day. Wish me luck!

****EDIT****

I went ahead and listed this jacket in my etsy shop, so if you are interested, go for it: 9to5 Vintage

Late Winter

Winter has showed up here in socal with a vengeance! It's freezing (for California) and raining and windy. SO, I decided to bust out the scarf and leather. Winter's not so bad, I guess. Layering can be fun.

Pick of Week: Acid Wash Denim Jacket

Since I already have a ridiculous amount of denim jackets in my closet (hey, I'm a child of the 80s) I figured I'd have to part with this killer acid wash denim jacket. It's up for sale in my etsy store: 9 to 5 Vintage. Click here to check it out.

It's the perfect shade of sky blue acid. And it would look great with some hand studding... I've been playing around with studs from studsandspikes.com (inspired by BrookandLyn and I can't wait to share the results!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Peace out!

All I want are these...and these...and these...

From Acne's Fall 2009 collection. I am so into these giant platforms right now, I can't WAIT until someone knocks them off. Come on, Forever 21, Steve Madden, BAKERS?! Are you listening?! Let's get to it! As much as I'd LOVE to buy the real thing, we are in a recession people.

Side note, I am counting down the days to my big tattoo sitting. Tuesday is D Day, and I am so excited I can't sleep! I'll have some photos (if Jumbo will facilitate it) and hopefully a beautiful work of art on my arm next week. So stay tuned!

Working it

I wore this to work last week when we had a big meeting at the office. I usually don't dress up this much, but it was kind of fun for a change. And my hair looked so good for a change! Usually taming it is quite the challenge, especially at 6 am. You can tell its early by the fact I have literally NO makeup on (gross) and the steaming coffee cup in the background. Thanks Jumbo for getting up at the buttcrack of dawn to take these photos!

Jacket is JCrew, Skirt is H&M, Shoes are BCBGirls, and tights/shirt Forever 21

Dat there hair

Want this hair. From JakandJil, as seen on Fashionista Diary. I know it's a guy but I think it's so chic and a little punk and I'm just in love with it.

Why is it, VINCENT, whenever I get my hair cut short, it gets shorter and shorter with each cut?! I don't care. I love waking up and taking like 5 minutes to get ready. Not counting the wardrobe selection of course!

The last of my nordstrom gift card...

Went toward these LAMB rose booties I've had my eye on since Fall. Finally, they were marked down 60%. And amazingly, they had my gigantic shoe size. I cannot wait to rock these.

Jumbo: I know, I have a major boot addiction problem. Don't be mad! They were on sale!

Q and A Tagged

I've been tagged by HoneybunnyinWonderland to do the fashionista tag......so here it is:

Describe your personal style:
A mix of minimalist and heavy metal.

What are the staples in your wardrobe?
A black blazer, white James Perse T, black jeans, and my black flat vintage riding boots.

What's your signature look?
Usually all black.

What inspires you?
Creative people who aren't afraid to take risks and be different.

Who is your fashion muse?
Kate Lanphear, Agyness Deyn, Edie Sedgwick, Karla from Karlascloset.com, Kristen from Bleachblack.com

Favourite purchase of all time?
Probably my vintage swiss army black leather motorcycle spats. I can wear them over my heels or boots and they make everything look a little bit cooler.

Biggest splurge?
My tattoos. Pricy but worth it.

What's your beauty routine?
Much to the chagrin of my dermatologist, I pretty much wash my face with dial bar soap and *occasionally* (ie: not enough) use Kiehl's Abyssine Moisturizer. I don't wear very much makeup. Mostly just some lip color and mascara. I'm so boring. I always wished I was skilled in that department, but I'm not. I'm more of a hair/clothes girl.

What jewelery do you never take off?
I actually rarely wear any jewelry, but lately I've been occasionally wearing some vintage silver knuckle rings and a brass pyramid ring. I'll do a jewelery post soon. It makes it hard to type and work the mouse, which I do all day at work, if I wear a lot of bracelets.

What are you wishing for?
Love, Health and Happiness. Material thing I'm wishing for? I guess the ultimate pair of boots. I seem to be on a never ending search. I've been on the hunt for a lace up wedge ankle boot in black since the early 2000's.

What are your obsessions?
Obviously fashion, blogs, photography, art, body art (also known as tattooing), anything that makes my soul happy. And Jumbo :)

Sunday Funday, Jumbo decided to play with the mac for his first time.

Night Moves

Another nightshoot. My hair is driving me sort of nuts. It grows pretty quickly, and gets really thick really fast. This sweater is one of my ebay store items, but if it doesn't sell I won't be too bummed. It's pretty comfy...

Leggings: American Apparel
Dress: Forever 21
Sweater: 9to5 Vintage
Shoes: Patricia Field for Payless

Blog of the Day: What is Reality Anyway?

I've been a huge fan of Krystal Simpson ever since she was the coolest person by FAR on MTV's "I'm From Rolling Stone" series. She has a sick blog, her style is insane, and she always has the most interesting perspective on fashion that I've seen in a long time. You have to check out her blog, whatisrealityanyway? and add it to your daily reads...
