Vacation- all I ever wanted...

Mini Vacation time for me and Jumbo! We're taking a 3 day roadtrip up the coast to Paso Robles. I went to school in San Luis Obispo, and I never took the time to go wine tasting up in Paso. Blasphemous, I know. Especially now that I work at a freaking wine bar. Anyway. So this weekend we're headed up to do a little golf, a little wine, and hopefully some fun stuff!

Hearst castle is about an hour away in San Simeon and I've always wanted to visit! For those of you that don't know, W.R. Hearst was a publishing magnate and congressman. He also was Marion Davies sugar daddy! He built a palatial estate in the 1920's in Ca. He lived there with Davies in pure jazz age opulence.

In the 20s and 30s many of hollywood's elite stayed at the Castle, including Charlie Chaplin, Cary Grant, the Marx Brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, James Stewart, Bob Hope, Calvin Coolidge, Franklin Roosevelt, and Winston Churchill. Can't wait to post some photos from this place.

Hopefully, we'll also hit a couple antique/vintage stores. The downtown area is a California historic sight, so it should be full of history. I sound like such a nerd! Don't worry, I'm sure I will be properly buzzed on wine at least one afternoon.

If anyone happens to have any recommendations for anything up on the Central Coast, please let me know!

I just came back from taking that same drive a couple of days ago. It's absolutely incredible. Hearst Castle, of course, is a must. We missed it this time around, but next time! There is a state park right before San Simeon, if you have the chance, stop for a stroll it's incredible. Lush and green. Then there is a little town called Cambria, it's so super picturesque and there is a restaurant called Linn, they have the best pies and an incredible selection of wines. So Hearts Castle is after Cambria, right before you take the right turn to the castle, there is a point by the coast you can pull over and take in the scenery, it's incredible. Take lots of pictures and have an amazing time!
