Working on adding color. I swear!

Is anyone interested in buying a bubble skirt off etsy? Camille's industriousness has inspired me.

Style on Track

Thanks to Style on Track for posting this great article on fashion bloggers- and for including me in this group of amazing girls! Check it out here...

zipped

Another homemade skirt! This one was a bit easier than the last. I used spandex tubing material (already in the skape of a skirt) and simply hemmed the top and bottom, and added a zipper.

Bubble Skirt Tutorial

Due to popular demand... the bubble skirt how to:

You'll need:

1. A piece of fabric about 20-30" tall (this will be the length of the skirt, but remember it will be shorter with a hem and elastic...)
by 60 or so" lengthwise (you'll be folding it in half, so this will be the waist and bottom with elastic) The more fabric, the more volumous the skirt.

2. Two pieces of elastic, measured to fit your waist. I would not pull it too tight, just a little stretched out around your waist.

3. A sewing machine, pins, thread, etc...

And your end result should look something like this...

Panama hat and American Apparel

My trusty American Apparel raglan top reappears. I will be buying a buttload of these as soon as I get some moola!

I got this Panama straw fedora from one of the street vendors for $5!

I am wearing these shoes again because I am patiently awaiting the arrival of two new amazing pairs. Oh, and for those of you wondering, the skirt tutorial should be up tomorrow :)

Huaraches!

Please take note, you will rarely see me in flats. However, there was an art show I had to walk today. Hence the appropriate footwear.

On a side note, I hemmed this skirt. It was full length, very Chloe on Big Love... I think it works a little better, but now I'm thinking, shorter!

Blazing

Its still too hot for this outfit. But I don't care. I WILL wear my thrifted Evan Piccone blazer if it kills me.

Needle and thread

I tried a new skirt making technique. Elastic waist for volume, but instead of a regular hem, I tried a bubble hem. It gives the skirt such volume, and an almost tutu like quality!

The only downside was I had to hand sew it. Which I haven't done since 7th grade home ec. And that was a whole other millenium.

I think it turned out good- can't wait to try this with a white satin for winter.
